AG formation costs

The AG (company limited by shares) is the most capital-intensive of the common legal forms – but here too, the big sum (the share capital) remains your equity. The real costs are only the fees. Here you can see every item and what to look out for.

One-off formation costs

Notarisation, the commercial register (Handelsregister) fee (around CHF 600) and, where applicable, advice and the capital deposit account. In total usually around CHF 2'000 or slightly more – more than for a GmbH, because capital and effort are higher.

The share capital is not a cost

At least CHF 100'000 share capital (Aktienkapital), of which CHF 50'000 is paid in at formation. Important: this is not a fee but equity – after the entry it is your working capital. You can pay in the unpaid portion later as a reserve.

Plan running costs realistically

Accounting, social insurance, taxes and – above a certain threshold – an audit. Proper bookkeeping is mandatory. planix calculates formation and follow-on costs for you in advance so your AG does not become a cost surprise – free of charge.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to set up an AG in Switzerland?

Around CHF 2'000 in fees for the notary and commercial register, plus the share capital of CHF 100'000 (at least CHF 50'000 paid in) – which remains as equity.

Is an AG more expensive than a GmbH?

Yes, mainly because of the higher capital and somewhat higher fees. In return, you get shareholder anonymity, more easily transferable shares and more reputation.
